Another microscopic tick

his is beginning to tick me off. woke up this morning and my big toe was itching. Looked it all over and didn't see anything. this evening after taking a shower it was itching even more. No redness or nothing. I thought maybe I had got some poison ivy or something. When I reached down to put the lotion on I seen a black spot about 1/2 the size of a speck of pepper. A extra fine ball point pen dot. I couldn't rub it off or anything. finally got a nail on it and dug it off. When I got the magnifying glass I looked it. In the big glass I couldn't see anything but in the little round magnifier I seen it was a dang tick and still moving. What is up with these things and where do they come from. Never seen anything like it

Thanks
Never heard of them before. Seed ticks ,snakes in the house, What the heck next. they are tiny little boogers. I guess I will spray around the house. Dont seem to be as bad as what that lady had on her blog. But with just one you never know till it starts itching they are so small

Gah! Deer ticks!

We have a lot of wood ticks this year, and the poor dogs are loaded with them, even though we use the frontline stuff on them.

The collie has the worst of it, b/c his fur is so darned thick, the ticks hide. We usually find them when they're as big as my pinky nail and can't move b/c they're so full of dog blood.

But the ducks like the big fat ones. They come running when they see I'm getting ready to de-tick-i-fy the dogs!

Ahh, seed ticks. Still remember the time I was repairing fence in a wooded pasture. Was wearing faded jeans and happened to look down. From my knees to my shoes was moving waves of seed ticks. A good long soak in bleach water got most of them. Dry skin is much better than scratching ticks all night.

Remember a Rottweiler coming in at the vet's with severe anemia. They couldn't see the seed ticks covering the dog so solidly they were even between it's toes and foot pads

Just WHAT is a tick's purpose here on earth? (Other than to aggravate and terrorize humans & animals?) Are they good for ANYTHING? I hate them. Insanely.

I am confident that if you live (and do anything outdoors) in deer tick country you probably get bitten on a regular basis and never even know it unless the are becomes inflamed. Those things are so stinking small there is no way you could find every one of them. I had a boss that developed the bulls eye rash on his back and it wasn't until someone got out a magnifying glass did they find the tick in the middle of it.

I have lived in central/western NC all my life (a good part of it outdoors) and have never seen anything like the photos.

When u get those ticks u can sometimes take some dry sandy soil and and brush the ticks off with it.
If they are stuck sometimes I put finger nail polish on them , kills them then pull it off when the polish is dry.
My brother in law said his job was to pick tick's off the ladies LOL

I can just see a hairy backed guy using tape like that. Can you say bikini wax?

FWIW, a soak in a soapy bath might be an easy fix. Drown the little suckers.

Yeah, seed ticks suck. Unlike the adults, they don’t mind biting into your privates. They seem to come in swarms. If you carry ticks indoors, like on your pants… you’ll be picking ticks for a week. I haven’t seen that with seed ticks.

Another microscopic tick - Homesteading Questions

I've been tick bombed in MS when I didn't have poultry. Soap and water does nothing to stop them.

I give the dogs a little copper sulfate whenever I see a tick on one and they don't have a problem with ticks for a while. If I don't use the copper, the dogs are soon covered with huge ticks because they go out where the poultry don't keep the ticks down.

I don't seem to have seed ticks here in MN. Do have the larval stage of regular ticks and deer ticks which are small but not that small. Does anyone know if the seed ticks range has a northern boundry?

I get relativly few ticks on me but I tend to stay on the mowed lawn instead of running arround in the thick stuff when the ticks are at the peak of population. I have a fantesy that I am sliceing and diceing millions of ticks every time I run the mower. Hey, everyone needs a little incentive to mow the lawn, right?

A friend has an interesting way of doing the little buggers in. He keeps a spare set of clothes in the freezer. After doing something where he could get ticks on him he comes inside, strips naked, checks his bod for ticks, and swaps his clothes for the ones in the freezer. Any ticks on his clothes experience death by freezing (it's too good for them) and the cold clothes help cool him off after being out in the hot sun.
