Who keeps a project book?

With the internet, homesteading books and magazines, I run across all kinds of things I want to reference later. Does anyone keep a binder of clippings, drawings, projects ideas etc?

I have a composition notebook that I have been using to jot down ideas and notes...and include small drawings ,but was thinkinng of actually cutting out the actual articles from magazines and printing out stuff from the net and maybe organizing it by section. Kinda my own homesteading "how to" made up of just the stuff that I think applies. I hate to cut up magazines and might just make a copy of the pages, but either way I would like my own reference book without having to try and remember where I saw a particular article.

Anyways.... I was hopeing one of the creative types on here already had one and could show some pics for ideas to save me some trial and error....Ill have enough of that with my new all american canner and excalibur

I wish I could be that organized. I did keep a little notebook for awhile one year and then I promptly lost said notebook.

Too funny. I am hoping to avoid said problem.

Yes, I have a goat project book. It's a notebook with plastic report sleeves in it.

One project per notebook. One 3 ring binder has all our cattle papers and reference info. The manuals and reference info for any tools/equipment go in a big brown expanding folder and are known as the "manly man manuals".

Hahaha, my DS10 announced serveral months ago that hedoesn't have play dates anymore. He and his buddies have "manly man meetings".

I keep different binders for different subjects. I cut out magazine articles and put them in page protetors, hole punch computer print outs, etc...The binders I have are: Water and Waste Disposal; Gardening (which really needs to have more binders); Food Preservation (which again needs some separate binders); Chickens; Goats; Outdoor Survival; Food Storage Recipes; there are a few more but I don't remember off the top of my head.

I keep it simple. I have a folder holder and have manilla folders for
as many categories as I need. Then if I see an idea I want to try I jot it down, copy it , or print it out and file it. I ran across great directions online for repairing rotten trim so I printed it and filed it. Then when I am ready to do that project I can find the directions.
Folder labels
Contacts(people I use or want to use)
Paint colors
decor ideas
how to sheets
projects in progress
landscape

I saw a great idea at a store of a coat rack made of an oar, so I photographed it , printed it on reg paper and filed it make one someday.
I keep my camera in my pocketbook and snap photos of stuff I like all the time. A flower bed I like ..anything.., decorating ideas.

No, I don't paste the magazine pages to other pages. The magazine pages are slipped into a page protector. I have to get to work. I'll get a picture up for you tonight, ok?

I have a small folder that I used to keep magazine articles. I read a ton so I have to clean out the magazines after a while and just keep the articles, how to's, ideas, etc that I want. I also keep a journal for the farm. Just something that I write in each evening to help me keep track of stuff. I also do a blog which actually helps me becasue I can go back an reference it if I need to remember a date.

Now, if anyone can tell me how to get more hours each day, I can probably get all of the stuff done that I'd like to do.

I keep a binder (a really big binder) with the entire farm in it. It was suppose to be a business plan that when read is more like a user manual. It got a lot of laughs out of my banker when I asked for a small line of credit because he'd never seen anything so in-depth. He told me I could practically franchise my farm with it. But it's just a binder like I said. I just have a lot to keep track of. 200 customers, 3 locations, 15 different livestock/poultry, the kitchen, the slaughter unit, the dairy aspects, the fishing boat and taxes (I hate taxes). I have a section for the family also. If I lost it I would probably not get out of bed because there is just way too much to remember/forget. But it's way too big to lose and I have a back up online that I can print out.

Simplicity is best. Just a three ring binder works best. Plastic sleeves for those things you don't want to hole punch and a good printer to scan/copy/print/fax everything and keep on your hard drive as well is great for back up.
