Umm, I'm on "vacation" ......
Vacation started at 11:30 PM. Everyone at the job says "Where are you going?".
I'm not going anywhere. I have a gazillion pounds of manure to move. I put in for vacation back in Feb., hoping the ground would be dry enough to clean sheds.
Lucky me. 2 weeks of moving poop.

Will there be sunny pics of your vacation to share?

Rent a front loader? The chicken houses around here make quick work of removing litter that way. Shovel into accessible pile, move pile.

Hey, some people pay good money to go to boot camp for the workout you'll be getting!

I cried because I had to shovel poop during my vacation, until I saw a man who had no job to vacation from.

I think they've started calling them 'staycations'... stay at home vacations!

You know, the usual; tractor broke down, should be fixed this Sat. Nothing ever goes as planned. I did get all the small outbuildings cleaned, with a wheelbarrow.
It's been wonderful just being able to stay home. I haven't taken any time off in over 3 years. I got a lot done around here. The garden is in, fences are finally finished (been working on them for almost 10 years!), getting a lot of sleep. Been really nice.

Sounds like a good staycation, then.

I have a TINY hen house, but guess what I will be doing when half of the family goes away to summer camp? Yep. Cleaning it.
And, DH wants me to do something with my half of the garage as well.
I am really looking forward to it, which is a sad commentary in a way!

two weeks away from work sounds nice no matter how busy you are at home. :-)
my "time off luck" is terrible. i just worked a few days...beautiful and gorgeous days that were cool and sunny...now i am off and it is raining...like much of my time off. on top of that, i have had several trips to the dentist in the past month. i just had some work done on monday and i felt great...at work tuesday and wednesday...and now another tooth went berserk on me. maybe my dental fires will be extinguished by the time my 3 day 4th of july weekend happens. i cannot believe they let me have that weekend off! :-) i think i have two months of work to catch up on around the homestead...maybe i should file for a leave of absence, lol.
enjoy your time off!

x2!
My husband's recent 'staycation' (one week) involved digging out 11 tons of unplanned rock when we were putting in our septic tank - it was a lot of fun, but we're so thankful to finally flush a toilet.
I'm glad you've been able to get so much done and I'm most happy when I'm being productive - so I can only imagine how pleased you must be with all that you've accomplished!

No kidding! If money were no object, I'd live in the middle of 100 acres and leave home 3-4 times a year.

I'm actually super bummed that my inlaws are coming in and I have to take time off, which I have been hoarding like crazy, to go and do "fun" stuff! There's SO much I need to get done in the yard and barn and garden!

Speaking as someone who lives in town, I love it when I find a place to get manure for my gardens. Maybe you could post on craigslist and the townies would come out and haul off your excess manure for you. Heck around here some charge like $10.00 a truck load for it. Just put it all in a pile somewhere and let them shove it themselves.
