Well Help.

I kept hearing the pump going on and off. So i checked to see if the toilet was running, nope. So figure it is me,hearing things. Today,go out to plant the flower boxes on the frount of the house and see water arround the Well pipe thing that comes out of the ground. It is not in a place where it could be hit by something(other than a dog). What do I look for? What could this meen?

Check the pitless adapter. That's the metal piece (pipe) that goes through the pipe you see sticking out of the ground.

A little advice. Take a bit of time to learn about things like your well/water system. Its not that complicated and many people right here are more than willing to help you learn.

I say this for a couple of reasons. Most of the times you can fix a well/water problem yourself. It will usually get done faster and for a lot less money than having to call in a pro. Also there are times when knowing what to do can prevent damage to the system and/or your home.

If you have water in your basement, that doesn't sound like the pitless adapter rotting out unless your well is in the basement. You have a leak someplace else.

It sounds like the piping at, or shortly after, the pitless adapter is leaking. The water on the ground is bubbling to surface, and some of the water is likely following on the exterior of the piping into the basement.

That would explain the water in both places.

Thanks Watcher. Most times I just have too much on my plate, have noone to blame but myself I guess. I sure do learn alot from folks on this site and am forever grateful. I do need to learn more about these things, especially electricty-a big fear of mine.

Everyone here is right about the problem, the well guy took one look and says he needs a backhoe. So he'll be coming back tomorrow, cause the backhoe guy isn't avalable right now. Hope this isn't too expensive.

No prob. I view electricity the same way I do firearms and snakes (and cars and fire and tractors and many other things). They all can be dangerous but if you remember that, respect that and treat them correctly the odds of getting hurt is very, very small.

Also I have to say I've been shocked, shot, snake bit, in a wreck, burned, ran over by a tractor and many other things. But because I was careful and by the grace of God I'm still here with all my body part and never had a broken bone.
