I found morel mushrooms. Neener, neener!

Just gloating that I found some morel mushrooms. Usually when trying to find morels, I end up walking right past them while the people behind me find the bounty. For the first time in my life it was the other way around. Brian Kerkvliet of inspiration farm in Bellingham, Washington walked right past these morels and I spotted them!

I'm so jealous! The weather didn't cooperate with us this year and the morels are hard to find. I've been fantasizing about a big frying pan full of them every time I hear it mentioned!

Awesome, I haven't found a sizable amount in only God knows how long. However, my oldest daughter brought me a couple dozen she found. After soaking them in water, I sprinkled the water around a few sycamore tree's in hopes that the spores will sprout next spring.

Nice....I didn't find any yet this year. I found some 'false' morels and ate those, then I rode the galaxy on a purple unicorn.

I've heard that the false morels have something in them resembling rocket fuel ... or jet fuel. And that you can eat them, but you want to cook them longer and they don't taste as good.

There's a house/property we keep going back to look at that's for sale. A few weeks ago when we were there, I saw morels in one tiny section of the property!! Very excited about that.

Thanks for the video Paul; I enjoyed it. You were in Washington at the time and not Montana, correct?

Loads of morels are taken around here every year. Quite a sport in this area

Correct. Bellingham. This is the trip where I lost about 40% of my video footage - which I am still stinging from. I made a podcast to try to recall the lost video footage. I'll try to announce it here when I have it available.

well we had perfect weather but a lousy morel crop..had enough for one batch to eat on one day and the other days enough to cut, clean and dry, but not enough to eat ..people were finding either a whole lot or none at all so I didn't feel too bad finding a dozen or so

Our Morrel's grow under the apple tree's. They have seeds in them...just shake them over the ground and you will get more. It usually is wet in that area and my husband says they like wet areas. I personally don't like mushroom's but my husband loves them. Enjoy!

Pauls voice always reminds me of a Canadian comedian but that name escapes me. But it shares a common enthusiasm if nothing else. I'd like to compliment Paul's boots on the ground approach and his delivery..... is everything you do, recorded on YouTube? I have never wanted to go mushroom hunting but now I do! I'll probably eat something deadly toxic cause I'm a completly zero'd klutz at that sorta thing but I'm also a chicken so maybe I'll watch yummy morels wither and dehydrate long before they pass my teeth!

Lucky you...Congrats!! I'll bet they were delicious. We live near Mesick, MI and there is a Mushroom Festival every year. Even then there wasn't a big haul around here. DH and I only ended up with a TOTAL of 2 dozen all season long . Other than the benefit of exercise on the hunts, we did find about 30# of leeks. Made some yummy leek/thyme jam and leek/thyme/orange relish - so not a total loss this year.

Nope. i have to go through 200 units of boring to get to 1 unit of interesting. So it usually isn't as fun as it might look.

But I do think that my videos .... help. I can't seem to stop.

An excellent point. I think I'm gonna go add some text to the video right now.

Morels are a great one because there is only one other mushroom that looks like it and it is easy to tell the difference between the two.
