Anybody still farm/garden/homestead with a David Bradley walking

As I understand it, There engine only has one side shaft. So, im wondering how there can be a reverse in it. I have a Wards walking tractor that has a B & S 2 side shaft engine, One shaft above the other. The lower shaft is for the reverse. I want to replace the engine with a new one as its hard to start. I cant cause nobody makes 2 shaft engines anymore that I can find. Thats why Im asking about how DB handles the reverse on their tractors.

My husband has a DB walk behind. He says his does not have a reverse, he just has to swing it around. He thinks his might be a '50's model so maybe they didn't worry about reverse then?

I would rebuild it. They are not hard to work on and if it is hard to start it may be something easy to repair. Even a ring set is cheap and easy to install.

OV Its a 40s model with mag. I had the mag gone through. It has the fuel bowl and you have to turn it on at that point just so. If you turn too much, Too much gas will get into the carb if it dont start on the first pull, and flood it out. If it isnt turned on enough, itall start mebbie, but soon die. Then after turning the gas on, I may feel the need to choke it. If ive turned it on too much, Ive just made flooding easier.. The fact that you have to throw it a couple times to get the points on the mag shined up dosent help in the flooding process.
I have a Troy Bilt Tuffey Tiller. It has one shaft on it with no reverse. The techumsie engine is going to pot, so I bought a new Greyhound engine from Harbor Fraight for 100. The origional is 3 1/2. The Grayhound is 6 1/2.. It starts EASY, and thats what I want on my garden tractor. Something that starts EASY
