Smile VA appraiser comes this afternoon!

Just got the call that he will be here at four and I rushed around and straightened up as best I could. I do not know really what a VA appraiser is but I guess I will find out. I cant get the chimney fixed today because of the wind but that is on the top of my to do list for tomorrow- God willing the sun comes out and the wind dies down.

Are VA appraisers good or bad or indifferent? We had an appraisal about four years ago and came in at 170K before the laundry room and green house were added, Nervous me, sisterpine

A VA appraiser is just another name for a real estate appraiser who is on the approved list of the VA to appraise real estate for VA loans.

Don't worry about cleaning ..... as long as he/she can still see the floor, ceilings and walls you are fine.

Good luck! Our VA appraiser gave us a low..low..low appraisal (we wanted to refi to do some upgrades as well as paying off some dept) compared to a Real estate appraisal by $50,000..I told the appraiser that their was quite a difference in the value of our home using the VA and he said yes we do give a lower appraisal as a general rule..

We lucked out on our VA Re-finance.

They only found some minor powder-post beetle damage from many years ago.

We just happened to ask if the appraiser had our pond included and he did not , as he did not know we had one, as it was covered with ice/snow.

On his way out, to our property, the appraiser got his car snow stuck, in our grumpy neighbor's drive, who would not help - at all.

We gladly pulled him out and ended up with a very nice appraisal.

Go figure.
