Armadillos take over

We have an abundant amount of armadillos reaking havoc on our yard. I have recently read an article where some tested carry a strain of leprosy. How do I get rid of all of these critters without having to sit outside 24/7 shooting them?

OK, I give up on that one. That's the only sure way I know of,unless you have a dog big enuff or smart enuff to take 'em out.

We strung bells on a stout string around the area they were digging and attached a flashlight to a .22 rifle and waited in the dark (porch) until we heard the bells ringing, put the flashlight on and started shooting. Over the course of a few nights we wiped them all out. This was in Florida.

Send them to Detroit.

A dog might get leprosy also. Scary stuff.

They're coming up here too (Lebanon) Maybe talk to Conservation?

The smart ones stay away.

Castor oil and water sparayed around every 2 days. If you know where the burrow is castor oil sprayed in the burrow. Also good for moles and racoons. Will not kill them. I had a huge problem here and a pro trapper told me what to do. He said hardware stores and farm and feed will have it in the gardening. Our farm and feed had just on a random shelf. Spaces under sheds and the house need to be blocked so they don't make a home there. Works better than anything and I tried hot pepper and that did nothing. Try that castor oil. Use a pump sprayer or hose sprayer. I used a pump.

They have been here for a long time and I did not mind. They mess things up a bit but nothing that will end the world. Then they started hitting my vegetable garden and almost destroyed it. Many of my plants are rare and gifts so I can't afford to lose them.

I think the only leprosy carrying dillos were in WAY south Texas or Mexico a long time ago. I don't think it's a current fear, but I'll do some googleing.

Shooting them is all that works.

The armadillo leprosy thing is way over blown.

But they can wreak havoc on gardens and landscaping. They're not eating the plants, but digging for insects.

They're not hard to hunt or live trap.

Install a small section of pavement on the roadway adjoining your property and the cars running over them will soon have them eradicated.

Invite gun toting neighbors over for a little target practice? Offer free ammo as an incentive.

Yup been catching them since I was a kid in south Texas, grab em by the tail and pick em up, when they quit bucking they settle down and you can toss em anywhere ya want to... Never caught leprosy..

Or even eat em, but I didn't find the taste all that good.

Give the kids something to do, go chase em down and catch em.

One of my .22's is set up for night shooting. I have a laser dot sight mounted on it. I spot them with a flashlight, put the red dot on them and pull the trigger. Don't have to do anymore than shoot from the hip.

MMMMM Possum on the half shell! Just build a little ram up to a trap door on yer freezer, they will pretty much take care of themselves till you are ready for the neighborhood bbq!

My pair of Jack Russells HATE the darned critters, and will hound them incessantly until they just don't want to come around any more.

We have Armadillos here in Tennessee, which is unusual. But the only time we actually see them, is when they are road kill. For some reason they think it's a good idea to cross a busy Interstate.

Leprosy is easily treatable now days. All you need is some ammo...and antibiotics.
