dead yeast question

Is dead yeast good for anything else on the homestead? I have about 20 pounds of it.

It's good for yeast nutrient if you are making mead. Make sure you sterilize if before you use it, though.

My guess (just a guess) is that it might be high in B vitamins and usable in animal feed.

Why would you have 20lbs of yeast on hand? Someone give it to you, or do you do a lot of baking?

There is no reason for it to be dead. Did you proof it? Are you sure it is dead?

If it won't rise, it can be used for flavor in baked goods and it can be added in small amounts to the animal feed-- like a vitamin, not the main ingredient.

I've got a stew recipe that has yeast in it, so you can also add it to meat dishes.

Flush some down your toilet once a month. That bacteria it will grow is good for your septic and keeps other stuff from growing.
