Mow or Not?

Ok the person that bought our place is wanting it for hunting. Its going to be two months before we will be moved out.I'm not mowing the whole yard but should I even mow any of it? Maybe just around close to the house because of Snakes?

Does he NOW own the land? Let him mow it. You have your own new place to take care of..and with the cost of gas..forget about it..he can come and mow it..however, if you are staying there for an extended period of time, mow it for your own sakes, to keep the bugs down, etc..

However, if you just want to bless him, mow it

If you bought it those are your animals for hunting. I think you should hunt there and do what suits you.

Just refrain from your usual method of burning off the undergrowth, LOL. Too risky at this point in the sale. Mow around the buildings only and maybe the driveway.

Have he closed on the property yet? If you used a realtor to sell it, have the realtor contact the buyer and see what he wants. If you sold it directly to him, ask him especially if he officially owns it.

Okay, I know about opinions and armpits, but here's my opinion anyway.

Personally, I'd do everything within my power to keep the place maintained until I drove off the property for the last time. My conscience, my pride, and my reputation are more important to me than a few dollars worth of gasoline and some time that I would dedicate to maintenance.

But then, that's just me.

gee, maybe call buyer and ask if he wanted things mowed or left to grow. If you can't contact him have the realator do it.

I agree ask the buyer! He may want it wild to start attracting wildlife.

Really? I wouldn't want the property mowed if I had just bought it. How can you be so sure of the "christian" thing to do?

Mow the area around the driveway and house for goodness sake. You could ask him if he wants it overgrown.

Jesus would consider the lilies of the field, and not mow.

Me, I'd mow around the house to protect it and give the rest of it a head start on going wild. The buyer is there for hunting, not golf.

When I bought my house, the prior owner was obligated by the terms of our contract to maintain the property until we took possession. For us, that was closing date.

Maintaining the property meant everything from mowing to replacing the roof if a hail storm moved through.

There may also be laws in your state that regulate this type of thing.

Yes, I would mow around the house at a minimum. The new owner will likely use your house and why would anyone want to walk through waist high weeds to get to their front door?
