Rain rain go away!

In Ozark County, Missouri tonight there are 2 cars that have washed away in 2 different locations, cattle are washing away. highways are closed due to water over them and it's still raining. Rain and storms are forecast through Monday!

Please send some of it a tad SW. My trees are still fighting over the dogs.

We're in Taney Co and we feel like building an ark. The rain and the storms are ridiculous!! Tonight we had to go to Springfield and we got stuck driving in such terrible rain we could barely see. Yesterday we missed getting stuck in the Ozark Walmart b/c of a tornado warning by 20 min. At least all of this rain is helping our scaredy dog get over his fear of peeing in the rain. haha! I'm so glad I haven't got around to putting in a garden, yet.

I just heard a bit about West Plains being flooded--anyone know more?

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. It just isn't fair. We are in the worst drought ever in Texas, and are begging for rain. And here you are swimming in the stuff. We really could use a good drenching right now. Hope you all stay safe.

Raining here in KY too ... getting close to being the wettest April ever recorded. We're lucky, we're further south and the worst of it is hanging up along the Ohio river valley, both Louisville and Lexington are dealing with serious flooding in places.

It is still flooding in some places here ... fortunately we're up on a hill so we're not under water except for the sidehill swamps and the ponds on every small flat place.

our part of S/C Mo. has been very dry for the last 3 years. I;m thinking we're going to get all of our rain in a week, then dry up in the summer, if it fits the usual pattern.
sure wish we had a way to stretch it out!!

I watch the weather in Ozark county closely...keeping track of temps and rainfall there because our property is near Wasola.

Spring thunderstorms can be very localized....I am wondering where exactly you are seeing this flooding?

My weather link shows 5.3 inches total for Wasola in April (they probably use a Gainesville gauge?)...with never more than 2.8 inches in any one week.

There must be some very heavy localized rain to cause this mayhem?

Stay safe!

Very, very localized. I'm getting rained on now, but hardly got rained on yesterday but the county south of me(Lawrence) was hammered most of the day, as well as other counties south of me. The storm system that is hitting me right now extends back to Tulsa so I'm guessing it's going to rain...all...darned...day.

We got a lot of rain here last night too and it's still raining off and on. For the first time in years both my ponds are running over which is nice, But I've got feed corn to plant and it's gonna' be a while before the ground dries up enough for that.

Tarbe, Wasola got hit with baseball sized hail last week. A girl was driving near Z Highway and it broke the windows out of her car. This rain is near the Wasola area, very near. I do not know what our total rainfall is for the last week (we left the guage outside in the winter and it froze and broke). At Gainesville water was up on the gas pumps at Bullseye station. I am listening to the county road & bridge boys and the 2 commissioners on the scanner this morning. They have been out all morning long and they are telling what damage is done on the various county roads and bridges. I think the water is over the Lick Creek bridge at Gainesville. We have lived here 40+ years and my husband said this is the worst damage he has seen to our county road, gravel pickup hood high. The bridge that goes across our driveway is washed down to the 3 tiles. My husband is trying to do something with that. He had to drive the 4-wheeler up the driveway to the house when he came home from work last night.

My raingauge says 4 inches, since this started.
We had a big dumping yesterday, 2" in about 30 minutes.

I am grateful for my sump-pump and rubberboots.

It is going to be a PITA to mow the lawn, once it finally dries out some.
The weeds are getting pretty thick out there.
The frogs sure are happy though.

Wow. Thanks for the details.

Based on this, I am sure we could not make it into our place via car. There are several low crossings on the gravel roads (CR 119, 122 and 126) to our place. One in particular on 126 is probably a tank trap right now! I will try to get in touch with our neighbors to the south (Star Valley Ranch Missouri Foxtrotters) to see if they are able to get in/out. They might be using their horses!!

I am also sure come July/August we will all be wishing a couple inches of this rain could have been put in the bank!

Tarbe, if there are low crossings to your place I'd say you could not get there. It might be a good time to have horses to ride in case you need to.

We have gotten over 5 inches in the last couple days, both ponds are full and I had to dig a trench to divert water from the barn as it was threatening to flood the calfs stall. I also watch the NEXRAD radar and there is a front marching up that extends from southwest of Oklahoma City all the way past St Louis. No relief in site but man everything is GREEN.

The rain stopped long enough for me to gather up all the gravel that washed out of the drive and fork out all the trash that had piled up on the fence at the creek crossing and..... it's raining again!

My husband has been on the tractor ALL DAY working on the road and driveway. He just came and got my car to see if he can get out to the highway with it. He hasn't came back but I have faith!
