New Holland 1530 for sale locally.

Found a 1996(??) NH 1530 for sale,2450+ hours,4wd,hydro and turf tires. He has ag tires but not sure if they will fit or how much more.
Seller wants $3900 with turf tires or $4200 with the ag tires.

Thoughts?
We have an old Massey industrial with a FEL and shutle shift, but it seems that it is going to nickel and dime us to death....one little(or not so little) thing after another...

Thanks.

Does it have a front-end loader?

No....but then the loader on our Massey hasn't been all that helpful due to....ahem....some previous farming ingenuity.Seems the weld broke where the ram mounted and so someone moved it to where the bucket can no longer dump...

On top of that,it has required a few repairs, and is currently out of commission with both a blown power steering line and a serious leak in the steering.

I would love a tractor the size of a 1530 with a front loader.

I had a New Holland TN65 with a loader at the old place. Loved it and it was only a 2wd.

A smaller 4wd with a front loader would be just about perfect.

If it's in good shape, that price doesn't seem too bad. Would the ag tires be new?

A good working loader would be nice that's for sure.

I think the tires will be new,not sure if I should bother going down there to look as we would need to sell our tractor first, although the uncle of the builder we have been using offered me $3500 for it without any prompting....

Just would be nice to have something that we wouldn't have to worry what next will break on it.

The tractor I replaced with the TN65 was a 1960's model Ford 3000 gasoline with a John Deere loader cobbled onto it. I seemed to spend as much time under it or its hood as I did actually using it. The generator even caught fire, once, burning up most of the wiring.

I learned a lot working on it.

But, the most important lesson was: "Never buy an old tractor from an old rancher."

Well I drove down to see it,not bothering to call first, only to discover it hasn't been brought in yet...LOL

It is a trade in on a brand new Boomer series, has been owned by a golf course property management company and was used to haul a sprayer.

The dealership has maintained it for the last four years or so as well.

The ag tires would be new, they would be the tires that came off the new tractor as he needed turf tires.

So...might go take another drive tomorrow to take a look.

I like the idea of something newer, with not as many 'unique idiosyncrasies' as our old Massey.
Adding a loader would be pricey though,at least through them.

Thanks all.

You might watch sales sites such as Craigs List. I tend to remember that I've seen one of the 770 loaders for sale within the last couple of weeks but don't remember where it was nor the price for it.

You indicated that you weren't real sure of the year. I'd question the year of it via the serial number. I really didn't remember that style of tractor being being produced as early as 1996, meaning it might even be a little newer tractor. Not sure when the style change was made.

I have never seen a 1530 before. Have owned a 1500 and a 1720. Think the only ones sold around here were the 00 series, the 10 series, the 15 series, and the 20 series. Perhaps that way by just what the dealer ordered in.

OZ, that price sounds ridiculously low to me. I have watched prices for the last 2 years on tractors and when I bought mine 3 months ago, well let's just say I paid a lot more than that.

Give all consideration to a front end loader, it will be the BEST money you will ever spend. It want be half bad to help out with all the snow too !

I was a little suspicious about it all too, however what the dealership said was, that is what it will bring if it is sent to the auction in Florida....so they will try and sell it here first.

I can't get down there until Monday,so we will see then.

Will you be selling the old Massey? For the right price I might try tinkering with it. The NH price is out of my league at the moment but I could try some CPR on an older machine...

Well yes, that would need to happen first.
Had the uncle of the contractor offer me $3500 for it,of course that was before I found this one....
