That "Forbidden" thing .........

Went to a big RV show in Ft.Worth yesterday and then tried to logon in the PM .....I got the "Forbidden" message. I'm thinking what in the Sam Hill have I done that was so Bad. Made me realize how much I appreciate this website and all the knowledgeable folks who hang out here . See, I like ethnic humor and I got to thinking maybe I should be alittle more sensitive about what I say . I am NOT a mean spirited person by nature and I don't intentionally try to offend anyone so Be it resolved that I will try and leave my ethnic comments out of my posts. Thanks for listening , fordy

Fordy, I had the same thing happen to me last night. Not sure what was going on, it was about 2100 EST, but Dh thought it had to be the server....can't think of anything I posted that would have caused any grief...

I had trouble with it earlier, connecting in general, not being forbidden, earlier in the day and once today already. Must be something with the site itself, not with us personally....

It IS the server, guys. I get knocked off here at LEAST several times a day (the "page cannot be displayed" screen). Last night it was supposedly maintenance on the server and they shut it down without telling anyone, according to what I read in the Admin Forum. I guess we just have to be patient and remember, we COULD still all be writing letters to each other and waiting weeks for replies! It could be worse, right?

Ms techy nerd here. :haha:

It said problem with vb - most likely a virus attack since it often hits that way (visual basic).

I was forbidden too - and really missed this place.

I was forbidden also...I get that type of message quite often, usually when dh runs a defrag and messes up all my settings. Its usually back in a few days, so while its annoying I'm used to being kicked out of a forum....I'm on a dial up after all, LOL.

Yep, forbidden here too, and I immediately start thinking back to what replies I've done. But I'm starting to get used to it now---maintenance, so I understand, mostly in evenings. I do check this site every day so feel let down when I can't get it, but I'll get over it. Lots of us loving this site, right?

Problem occurred with switching over to a new server. Under testing by moderators now. Looks fine so far.

fordy, deborosa, ana,
what u've all described also happened to me. wondered what i'd done that was so awful! realized how important this forum is to me! i think of y'all as my good neighbors, and it hurt to think i had somehow gone sufficiently over the top to get myself forbidden. (i HAD been engaged in a lively discussion of political philosopy {libertarianism} and was afraid that some of my positions might have been interpreted the wrong way!)

it WAS a good reminder not to take this place, or its inhabitants, too much for granted.

it's great to be back!

Yes! I went back through what I had posted in my mind too!!! I thought it might have been to my comment about not caring too much for lawyers. :haha: :haha: :haha:

But we are back - and I am very glad!

deb,

i know what u mean! i was afraid it might be my spouting libertarian political philosophy (the issue was pornography). or maybe whan i said something to the effect that if the dem presidential candidate was jack the ripper, id have to think it over which candidate to vote for. i really did go over the top w/ that one!

but when i thought i was grounded it gave me time to think. i plan to be a little more responsible w/ my posts now. but just a little.

vb in this case refers to vBulletin, the software we are using. I believe it's php based.

Anyway, it was the server, but we've moved to a new one now, so we shouldn't have those problems anymore!

I haven't been part of this community for long, but when I was "Forbidden", I thought maybe I'd signed in wrong or something. I'm glad everything is up and running okay now.

I got to visit once before the server forbade me to visit. I was insulted! I hadn't even got to post anything yet! I felt sure it was AOL and I was mad! Then I got the notice that it was the server and I felt sheepish. Thank goodness I didn't fuss at AOL...again. That one visit hooked me in. :worship: I love this site and the people who post here. Everyone is helpful, full of ideas and knowledge, and fun. :yeeha: Judi
