How do you get the sweet from stevia

The wife has been growing stevia plants but does not know how to get the sweet taste from the plant into say her cup of tea. She has tried putting a leave in the cup when she heats it, even brusing the leave still no sweet taste. Anyone know how. Thanks

All I know of is drying and powdering the leaf, not sure how you'd get it with fresh leaves. Or maybe she's not using enough?

Stevia doesn't like heat. I doubt anything like that will work well.

I brew it with my tea and it works. I have not been able to use it with baked goods, but I will try to grind into a fine powder and see if that works.

Some people make a tea and use that sweeten cooking.

Stevia Simple Syrup

• 1/4 cup fresh stevia leaves
• 1 cup boiling water

1. Pour one cup of boiling water over gently bruised stevia leaves. Let the mixture sit for 24 hours and then refrigerate. (A teaspoon of ascorbic acid, also known as vitamin C powder, may be added as a preservative.)

Stevia Liquid Sweetener

• 1 tablespoon dried, crumbled stevia leaves
• 1 quart boiling water

1. Pour boiling water over leaves and allow infusion for 24 hours. Freeze the mixture in ice cube trays for future use.

2. This mixture can also be refrigerated, but then it must be used within a few days.

This is how I do it and it works great.

Wow, thanks for these tips. I stopped growing it cause I couldn't get the 'sweet' to work in tea or anything else either.

I bought Stevia in the Raw to try before I invested my time, but it gives me headaches. Anyone else get those from stevia?
