We have finally arrived

Well we have been at our little slice of Heaven here on Honeysuckle Hill for about 7 years now. It has certainly been quite the adventure for us. We have been wanting to slowly get ourselves to the point where we have the "ability" to eat mostly what we produce. This has been a long and slow task, but as of today if we needed to I think we could. We have fruits, veggies, eggs, various meats and this afternoon the milk arrived. Woohooo I am some kind of excited. Looking forward to all the extra work.....I think.

Wow, I wouldnt even know where to begin. The first year we lived here it was geared towards getting the inside of the house fixed up a bit. This is an older home and it wasnt in the best shape. Really, still needs alot but I love it.
The garden and the chickens were the first signs of food around here and we stuck with those for a couple of years. I raelly wish I had kept a journal looking back only bcause I have the hardest time remembering my childrens names alot of the time, never mind what I did 5 years ago. HAHA
We have fenced and refenced so many times it isnt even funny. I love to move furniture around and redecorate often, that spreads outside as well and my PRECIOUS husband always has pretty much the same answer for me. "Sure, we can do that, it wont take much." Two years ago we expanded and moved my garden area and started a small orchard. This year we have added to that. We have also gotten meat rabbits, and well today... I am now the proud owner of 3 LaMancha does. One has week old bucklings and the other two are due to kid in about 2-3 weeks. I am a bit nervous, as well as very excited. I do have a sweet friend from this site, who lives fairly close that has offered help and encouragement to me. (Thanks friend, if you are reading this you know who you are and I really appreciate you!)
Of course as you all know, this life is never finished and there is always "one more thing" we need to have to make it complete. My husband has been talking of a pond, so who knows what we will do next. I just love the possibilities and thank the Lord for providing them to us.

Congratulations!

Feels good doesn't it to look down at your plate and realize that everything on it was raised or grown on the farm.
