HT site participants where are you from?

I like to answer questions and give advice when I can but often is helpful to know where you live. Example someone in the gardening and plant propagation forum is having trouble growing head lettuce and requesting advice but the individual does not reveal his location. I need to know the state or at least the zone.

You can see that I am from western Pennsylvania

.... so why omit your location when registering to use the site and post ???

As you can see I agree with you.
So often a newbie comes here with a problem then gets lots of conflicting answers that confuse him simply because the answer to a lot of things just isn't the same In Maine and Louisiana!

A lot of folks don't want their location known or don't know how to change the location settings. The first is a valid concern, the second, laziness.

I'm from a different planet. (My wife told me so, so I have it on good authority.) I figured out how to do the location setting. I'm still waiting for some Earther to put location as "In front of my computer" or "I'm next to stupid..."

I'm posting because I can't remember if my location shows. I'm from AL, but live in NW MS via TX.

Yep, it shows, but NW MS is a lot different than SW MS.

I'm also from western Pa (NW corner). I find it is nice to know what part of the country people are from but I can understand if they don't want to reveal it for privacy reasons.

While I agree with you that location is very often a critical point in giving a good answer on here, perhaps the person asking the question doesn't realize that location makes a difference?
