Has anybody ever used a farm grant?

Nope. Looked into getting a grant to convert open irrigation ditch into pipe. By the time the government paid their half and I met all their regulations, my half would have cost twice what it would have cost me to do it on my own.

The soil in the field was sand, but according to the government, the pipe had to be buried in sand that was trucked in.

I think it was about 10 years ago. My grant came through Soil & Water Conservation. It helped pay for fencing to keep the animals off the bank of and out of the stream, manure storage and natural spring development to water the livestock without using our well. I didn't use the manure storage portion of the grant. On paper it looked good but in reality it was over kill. and what I was already doing was working. The grant was $1500ish.
