Saturday's Auction - What looks interesting to you?

I, and possibly WIHH, will be attending this auction on Saturday. We often see, and talk to, Tallpine's son at this auction house....he's hard to miss!

http://www.midwestauctions.com/reinh...t_march_26.htm

So, if you were going to the auction what specific items would you be interested in?

Farm equipment?

Antiques?

Firearms?

Silver coins?

Tools?

Building materials?

Sporting goods?

For me it would be the building materials and......well, I did see a lava lamp in there.

Not going to yours, but at the one I am going to I am looking at fencing/building supplies(posts and cattle pannels), old/antique equip (most all I posted on another thread), and some 3pt equip (small harrow, drag, etc), and a trailer.

Ohhh - ooooh!

Farm sales.....

Just a little far to drive, tho there are not many around me the past 18 months.

The farm machinery doesn't interest me too much - the 2 JD's are worth looking at as good tractors, tho not my color typically.

I'd be interested in the farm misc stuff. Always fun to see what I think I need, and what the junk lining my sheds is actually worth....

Household usually doesn't interest me unless tools are included in that section.

It all looks interesting to me but I keep getting onto trouble going to those things. I just bid $1500 on a 1988 Ford Bobtail deisel tractor and only missed getting it by $150.00. The Mrs keeps reminding me I have no need for such things and that I have enough projects.

Cabin,

I am moving this weekend and can not go. If you go, you keep an eye on #26 and 27. Browning Superposed grade 1 (blued reciever with some engraving) should bring over a thousand if they are in decent shape. One with a round nose long tang (RNLT, round but to the pistol grip and a long extention to the trigger guard) bring a premimum. If the reciever is not blued and is engraved you have a higher grade; pigeon, pointer, or diana. Dianna grade has very deep engraving and with RNLT they bring 6 to 7 thousand. Midas grade has a blued reciever with deep engraving and gold inlays. They are over $10 thousand. The quality of the wood will be commenserate with the grade. The locking lever should be to the right of center when the gun is closed. Check for a loose vent rib, chips or crazing of the finish, and cracks in the wood. If the number given in the ad is the serial number then both of these guns were made in 1960. There should be no problem with the salt wood put on Brownings and others between 1964 and 1972. A salt wood gun is worth very little.

Don't let them get away cheap. How often do these people have an auction like this?

I would love to see the carved fish and sheep (DH is a carver, but mostly songbirds and birds of prey)

I want the mini excavator and the go cart. While DH was distracted by racing up and down our two mile long dead end road I'd be on the excavator digging a duck pond and doing a few other things he doesn't think I should do.

These auctions are typically held 4 or 5 times a year.

Photos and more info of those shotguns can be found on Proxibid ==> Lot 26 Lot 27

I'd bid on the cedar 1x12" lumber. Not so sure about the coins, silver is a bit pricey for my taste right now. Maybe a couple pistols, depending on the caliber and manufacturer.

It's a good thing I'm not going. I really don't have the money to spare right now and dh and I have never left an auction emptyhanded.

Feel free to pick up the feller-buncher for me, or the building steel. My tractors would soon tear up the farm equipment.

Cabin,

Both are grade 1 and RK. I can't tell but are probably LT as well. If they are in good shape they go on Guns America for over a thousand each. Maybe you could turn a profit.

Let me know when the next one is. The cabin is 70 miles from the auction so I may go.

I always enjoy auctions...some of those shootin irons look pretty spiffy. I collect: wood decoys, taxidermy mounts, smoking pipes,

My husband isn't allowed to go to auctions anymore. Last time he went, he came home with a big, old dump truck. Never mind that we already had a dump trailer. Turned out to be a pretty good buy and he really does love that thing. I think we should paint it Tonka yellow so he could really feel like it's a big toy.

Lots of very interesting "stuff" I love farm sales but that 5 degrees hmmmmm I would have to seriously think about it unless there is a nice heated building.

If you could pick up that snowmoble and the sled that goes with it
the catamaran, bikes, brown tin, fuel barrell , belt sanded and wood cook stove...I'd really 'preciate it!

NICE sale.

Did you see what my DS bought?

On the "FireArms" List ---- he bought #1.

He may have purchased other things too, but the only thing he sent me a photo of ------- is that #1.

Yes, we talked to Greg and his wife. He's a fine young man

So he got the go-cart! Good for him....but I really don't think he will fit in it.

All I bought was some silver coins and WIHH bought some wire shelving for her yarn and fiber.
