what zone?

I'm moving to WA state (from MD) in a few months and am planning a garden this year. What zone is western WA in and what grows well and doesn't grow well here? Any good web sites that can help?

Congratulations on your move! I don't know much about the Pacific Northwest but I do get a catalog from a company that specializes in vines,trees, shrubs,etc that are perfect for that area. 90% of their products bear edible fruit along with being pretty! I love browsing through their catalog on these cold winter days.

Their catalog and website also has a lot of info on gardening in your area of the US. I noticed they hold seminars and gatherings which you might be able to attend once you move.

Western WA is all over the place because of altitude, proximity to bodies of water, ranges which interrupt the warm weather from the ocean, etx.

Go to Gurney’s website and type in the zip-code for where you are moving too. It’ll tell you the exact zone.
