Red face

It's a well written book that covers just about everything that needs to be done when you are on your own. Be that by location or circumstance. Each topic, from first aid to metalworking is coverd in enough detail to show if you need more on the topic. At the end of each chaprer is a list of resources You can go to if you need a more indepth awarness. Chapters read fast and are easy to understand. About half the size of a city phonebook, I would highly reccomend this as something to have in the library because it will get referred to many a time. Mike

Understandable. Just thought I'd pass that on since I was looking at the Amazon reviews myself.

I got it form my brother a few months ago..he read a lot of it while on tour in Afghanistan and mentioned that he saw some of the primitive tech covered in the book put to use by the locals.

Here is my review...**Ive old read about 5 pages so far**!

Its a large book dimension wise, it has small print, and its almost 500 pages. So its got a lot of something, whatever is in it. Its chock full of pictures and diagrams too.

My sense of it from flipping through is it similar in scope to John Seymour's Self Sufficient Life, but with considerably more information on most topics and a much different "feel" to it. "Self sufficient life" i read cover to cover almost like a novel...I dont think I will do that with this book.

It will be more of a reference book but I think i will enjoy it plenty when its time comes

Theres a "I havent read the book yet" review.

Brian

Lehnman's Spring catalog just came today. This book is featured on the 2nd page for $30 +. So I'd say that was a good score

I'll have to put a reserve on it from my local library. I always try test read a book before I buy it. However I have always read good comments about this book.
