Cool Young Pigs with Boils/Cyst

These are small pigs (15-25 pounds) with growths on their hams.
Has anyone noticed any thing before like this?
Could it be a boil/cyst if so can we lance it and medicate.

Thanks in advance

Wild- Some of ours had this and my business partner said it was from them biting each other. Makes like a blood blister. Not sure if that's what's happening to yours, but it's worth investigating.

Does each pig have just one, or do they have multiple boils? The reason I ask is that they could be due to vaccination with a dirty needle.

One of our pigs had a cyst - we think he got it from a splinter from a treated fence post he kept rubbing his hams on.

Hubby and a friend lanced it and we put him on antibiotics for a little while. It was not easy to lance it.

We hadn't realized pigs could climb fences. Now we know differently

I have raised hogs for several years and have never had one bite another. Can you post some pics of them?

Called "Vice". The solution is to slaughter the attacker. Cures the problem for the other pigs. Vice in a pastured setting is generally a temperament issue. If in a penned situation you could try providing toys, and more room.

Hey, WIHH, you ever run a steer with a boil into a squeeze chute? Sometimes the squeeze lances and drains the boil for you.

Best to keep your mouth closed while activating the squeeze..........
