He produced electricity with a generator run on methane from the compost. He and his wife wrote a book titled "Another Kind of Garden" that was poorly translated to English and is out of print now. You might be able to track down a copy. I read it a while ago and it really didn't answer most of my questions, but it might help you some.

you can google gaelan brown. He has done some experimenting with jean pain's ideas in his "brown mound" experiments in vermont.

There are some grainy videos of jean pain on youtube and i was able to download his book from the internet for free but the translation is really bad

Hi,
I put all the material I could find on the Pain method and book here:
http://www.builditsolar.com/Projects...tm#CompostHeat

The link I put in is to what claims to be the family website (Jean Pain died a few years back). They sell the book. The book is also available for download for free from several places if you Google for its exact title. The Pain family says they are the only official source.

Some other articles and videos in the same section on the Pain method.

I've heard from a couple people who appeared to know quite a bit about composting for heat and methane who felt that the results that Pain reported might be somewhat exaggerated.

I've heard a lot about how he exaggerated his results too, and I've been hoping the people who doubt the claims were wrong, but the more I read and experiment myself, the more I am leaning toward their opinion. Many people have tried to duplicate his method, yet I haven't been able to find anyone who has succeeded.
