Spring? around the corner

I couldn`t beleive my eyes yesterday, last day of January, and what do I see? Robins !!!!!!!!!!!!! No kidding, four or five of them, they were drinking from the creek when I went out to the field with hay for the cattle. Now I know we are suppose to be getting a nasty snow storm today and the next, but things have me wondering what is going on. We have also been getting alot of boxelder bugs coming out of the wood work in the house also, they don`t usualy get bad in the winter, they wait till spring. So somethings wrong here, is Mother nature on vacation here, and things are messed up? help me out here. > Thanks Marc

Some robins DO stay the winter, especially if the conditions aren't too bad to make them go any further.

I've been seeing more and more robins overwintering here and even saw a cardinal this winter. We've had weeks and weeks of zero degree or colder mornings. Our lowest was -38 F. Those must be some tough robins.
