We received a thin layer of ice Sunday night. It started snowing about 5-6 p.m. Monday evening and has been snowing about every hour since according to the hourly observations courtesy of the local airport.

The blowing snow is now in drifts about-----4 inches deep.

Current temperature is at 2º with a windchill of -22º with wind gusting to 40 mph and fairly steady in the mid 20s.

Much better than elsewhere.

Here in SW Central Indiana, we had 28 degrees and a 1/2" layer of frozen rain, this morning. There's more moving in this afternoon. Ice frozen on everything.
Our electric power was off this morning from 2:00 for 7 1/2 hours. Tree limbs & power lines down several places. There is no motor traffic on our road today, too slick.
Probably be another mess tomorrow morning

West central Arkansas. Ugly, ugly, ugly! It's been sleeting for hours now and there is ice accumulation. Strong northerly wind. All the roofs already have a substantial layer of ice.

Sure am glad I moved the rabbits into more substantial shelter yesterday.

My 89 y/o MIL lives alone in Ft. Smith. I asked DH this morning if he's heard from her or if he knew whether she'd gone to his sister's house to sit out this storm. I appreciate her desire to maintain her independence but sometimes I worry about her. As a DIL I have no say in the matter although I do voice my opinion anyway.

I'm also in central MO and we are getting a lot of snow. There are drifts on the lee of each of our two hoop houses that are from top to bottom. We keep the chickens in one and veggie crops in the other. It's one thing if the veggie hoop house should collapse but an entirely different situation if the chickens' house went down.

ADDED: MIL just called to say that her daughter had come to get her early this morning so she's safe!

The big storm won't hit us until after midnight... We did get a few inches of snow this morning though. It was odd snow though... The kind that sounds kind of like pouring sugar.I could hear every flake as it fell around me.
