Murder most fowl

A Hawaiian circuit court jury found the woman who beat a peacock to death not guilty of animal cruelty.

70-year-old Sandra Maloney admitted she beat the bird to death outside of her condo in May of 2009, saying she "just lost it" and had plans to eat it.

She told the jury she was losing sleep because of the bird's squawking, so she killed it out frustration.

Maloney was charged with misdemeanor second degree animal cruelty, which carried a potential sentence of up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine.

Most definitely a Hate Crime.

Living in the city like that she probably should have complained to animal control and bothered them until they came and got it. That's why I live back off the road because what no one sees, no one knows.

She hit it once? That is not beating it to death. That is how you kill a fish before you skin it.

The cry of a male peacock is a loud, unnerving, unholy screech, and would certainly drive one to desperate lengths if subjected to hearing it over & over & over again. (Ask me how I know.)

I hink they should round up a;; the loose peacocks and dump them in the yard of the Animal Rights Spokesman and put up a game camera and see how long it takes that person to start loosing their mind!! My mum had oen that would roost in her trees by her lake that belonged to somone down the road, she would go out and douse it with water, try to get it with her broom, set the dogs on it-it evetually decided roosting in her trees was too much of a bother and went elsewhere.

The noise is why I don't have any peafowl. They are so gorgeous to look at, but I wouldn't be able to tolerate the noise.

On the other hand, beating to death an animal that belongs to someone else is really not OK.
