What's your take on a Dolmar?

I have a Homelite for limbing, and a big-butt Husq for major sawing, but need a mid size saw that does well at limbing and cutting up smaller to mid size, even large trees. I've heard good things on the Dolmar brand and I have a dealer very near. Any suggestions? Are they good saws?

Those that I know that have used them(noncontract) have been pleased with them. If you have service close and they are reputable you shouldn't have any trouble. You might look into arboristsite and search the chainsaw board there. That will get you more than you ever wanted to know about most "big" brands. I don't know what they offer but from your size described I would look into a 70cc size saw. A 32" bar will help the lower back by days end on most everything other that making rounds.

Mostly what ever saw you buy if taken care of properly it/they will last a very long time.

well

I got a Dolmar big weed eater, and it is the nicest thing I've ever bought. Starts each time and runs for hours with no problem whatsoever. I've never used their chainsaws, but if the quality is the same as the weed eaters, I'd recommend them with no hesitation. Very high quality.

DH has one and has really put it through it's paces. It has given him no problems. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

I liked my Sach Dolmar chainsaw. But the dealership switched to Sthil only, so that's what I have now.

I've heard great reviews on them and probably would have ended up getting one if there was a dealer closer to my house. I found a good deal on a Husq 359 thought that was $200 off at TSC and couldn't pass it up.
