Question Any one sell online for commision?

I have started to sell on the net again, and would like to do so on a larger scale then I have before. I will be selling for a commission for a few others to start with. Problem I have... What percentage can one ask for selling on online auctions??? I don't have a clue what to ask, and though I need to make some money for my time and effort, I don't wanna bite my client either. What do you, or would you, do? Thanks

There are companies that do that, so maybe you could find out what they are charging?

I don't think I would, with all the charge back horrors stories.

I thought about it but being tied to my account to much risk for me, then there is taxes too, I'm sure a contract would simplify some of the risk but seems like it would be a big hassle.

My wife takes half of the sale price. It seems like a lot of money for little work, until you see what a hassle it is, how much work it is, and how much she spends on fees. Plus, the camera, computer, and internet were not free either.

Selling someone else's stuff has never been a good money maker for us or them, and my wife rarely does it. If you want to do it, charge enough to make it worth your time.

I would start out charging 20% of what the item sells for, and Take ""ALL"" fee's/charges/postage/etc from their 80%. Plus I would hold their money until the buying customer is satisfied even if it takes a few weeks. You tell them up front this is how selling with you works. If they want or need money NOW-----After you get going and see what things sell for then you can offer them a option of buying their items straight out at app. 50% or less than what you think you can get out of it. Good Luck!!

I know a lady who buys model planes from the wholesaler, resells them for what you would find in a store and she's doing great. Original cost a dollar to 2.50, resells and delivers for retail.

I think your advice is an ideal place for me to start with. I think this is worth a try. Thank you!

Yes, I know all the hassell and expense to this selling business, but taking half the scratch might keep any one from selling through me. I might see it to my advantage to buy the items outright and sell for myself as suggested above. I'll try Riverman's idea for starters and thanks you all for the advice.
