baking bread to warm the house

LOL, It's three degrees out. And doesn't feel much warmer in here. I've got all the faucets running to keep the pipes from freezing. Baking zucchini bread in the oven to warm the house. The house isn't that cold really, just feels cold. Cheers

I slow rise my bread and bake it in the morning to help warm up the kitchen. It's a nice start to the day!

I do the same. When it gets really cold, the kind that doesn't last all winter, just spots. I'll keep the wood cook stove going and bake. The neighbors get bread, and usually the one man gets whatever -pot meal I've got going. I really love to cook and have no Kids-so that urge is still real strong!

We have an old propane cook stove and oven with a griddle on top and it stays warm all the time. In winter we let the bread rise on top of the griddle and then bake it. After the bake, we just leave the oven doors open. The house smells good and is warmer too.

Stay warm!

I baked bread yesterday, not so much because it was cold but just wanted some homemade bread. It sure does make the house smell & feel all cozy though.

Stay warm out there in Idaho!

Do you know the humidity in your house? When our house feels cold, I hang laundry on my grandmother's old folding rack and even that slight rise makes it feel warmer. My other options are to simmer a big pot of soup on the stove and as a last resort, I will use a humidifier. Of course, it's not that often that Missouri has the kind of temps you get in Idaho!

Winter time is the best bread baking weather. Warms the house and makes the place smell heavenly.

That's how I get the cottage warm in the morning too, heat the tea kettle and make some scones or bannocks or muffins. I usually bake several days a week for the Farmer's Market too so it keeps it toasty in here!
