PVC Pipe Projects
I just made my 1st piece of PVC furniture. For me, it was too much work for such a little piece, but it got me thinking about things I could make with PVC that would be practical (or just fun to have). Things like a hoop house/green house, bird feeder, garden bench, grape arbor, trellis. Also thinking about running PVC on my fence down to the orchard.
So what have you made with PVC pipe? Pictures are good.

Be aware that PVC is NOT generally UV stable. Stuff exposed to the sun can and will break as it ages. You can spray paint it to slow the process, and you might consider thinwall conduit for some projects if you have the tools.

I have a couple of friends who have made walk-in chicken range shelters out of it. We tried but ours did not go as well.

I just had a discussion about pvc pipe with my son's daughter yesterday. When she and her sister were around 12 and 9 (respectively), they had bunk beds. Their bed times rolled around and they inevitably were told a number of times each night to be quiet, quit talking, go to sleep, etc. One day when they were at Lowe's with their mom, the older girl asked her mom if she could have a few pieces of pvc pipe "for a project". She basically made a big "letter c" with two short pieces (perhaps a foot long) two 90s and one piece that was perhaps 4' long. (I think she said they used 1.5" pipe). You know what they did with them? They whispered into it, at night, after going to bed...putting their ear up or talking quietly into it...no more getting yelled at to "pipe down"!!! Each morning, they'd simply lay the pipe alongside the bottom bed. I thought it was brilliant!

You used to be able to buy PVC pipe that had greater UV resistance. I think they used the same stuff that's used in paint .. titaniun oxide. The more titanium oxide the better. I once bought paint directly from a factory. The more titanium oxide, the greater the longevity and the higher the price.

I have used PVC to make a framework to support greenhouse film over my raised beds.
The PVC and glue are cheap, the fittings are not. By the time I paid for all the fittings, I could have used wood for cheaper. Plus the cover has to be carefuly lifted off and on. If I try to slide it over the frame, it pulls the frame out of shape and has actually broken the frame.

A friend of mine makes target stands out of PVC
If it takes a hit, he just slips another piece in and keeps on shooting.

I have used PVC pipe for curtain rods on large expansive windows. I glued small rubber balls bought @ the $ store on the ends for finials then spray painted the whole thing.
For under $10 I got a great looking rod. Sold it to another military wife when we moved two years later.
Made a small play tent for my day care using colorful second hand sheets.
Goal post design to tie up tomato plants in the garden, (left side of pic).
PVC pipe used to frame white plastic trellis as a privacy screen/vertical gardening around the patio. Old toothbrush & vinegar water to scrub away dirt each Spring.
Planning on making a chandelier for the patio table.
I use the plastic white lattice panels to cover rain barrels.
On a side note hubby was transferred to the plumbing dept - seems that he had four separate groups of young men come ask for help with PVC fittings in the days leading up to New Year's Eve. Apprently their weren't fixing broken pipes.

I was at Lowes and see they carry Rust-Oleum Specialty Paint For Plastic. They only carry a few colors but it might be the way to go.
