Norm will help you, but it will cost a few bucks. It was either an episode on This Old House or New Yankee Workshop, but I'm inclined to think TOH.

Sorry, forgot to leave the link. http://www.newyankee.com/getproduct.php?0702

Doors are easy to construct. Just decide on how heavy you want them, how weather proof and the dimensions you want them to be. Also, decide whether or not you want handles or door knobs.

Then go to a lumber yard and talk with them about materials needed, i.e. type of wood and type, size & number of hinges.

I have built "exterior" doors as well as shutters of many dimentions for our barn & buck house. I chose treated plywood and built a frame around it with a cross-section for stabilization. Then I placed 2-3 good size hinges on them, depending on their sizes. They have been good now for 15 yrs.

Look at, http://www.woodshopnews.com. You should get some ideas from here.
Also try fine woodworking and fine home building.
If your going to paint them. Look into "exteria" for the panels. Great for non structural exterior use. It will not move or crack. If you get a sheet for your panels. Use the scrap for exterior trim. It shapes and routes real well.
For extra strength. Add dowels if you use a cope and stick joint.
Make sure you paint/finish the top and bottom of the doors.
Put the middle hinge above center of the door. Bottom hinge guides the door. Top hinges are holding the weight.

I use these two books:

"Building Doors & Entryways" by Craig Weis.

"The Doorhanger's Handbook" by Gary Katz.

The Weis book details how to build the door step by step. It gives good coverage of tools, materials, and procedure.

The Katz book covers installing the door from choosing hardware to weatherstripping and what to do if it does not fit.

Amazon.com carries both and I believe both are under $10.00.
