Cheap(er) alternative?

Our chicken run is chain link fence. They make slats that fit through the links, and I thought that would be great for keeping some of the snow out, but they cost too much for our pathetic budget. Any ideas for what I could use that wouldn't bleed us dry?

Try using old window blinds. Take them apart and they will slide right down in the chain link fence.

Empty feed bags and zip or wire ties.
