A question about candles for men.

Gentlemen, I need your help.

My DS has requested a 'manly' scented candle for Christmas but has left me no clue as to what that means.

Would that be piny, or spicy, or earthy???

Yes...I have asked him directly, but he's kind of busy and not getting to his emails.

I'd sure appreciate your comments.

There is no such thing. No matter what it smells like.

My Hubby likes the Pine/Fir Smell and his shaving soap is a nice earthy smell.....

But then again, if he could, he would probably get something in a leather or similar smell

I agree with Dalek it is going to be hard to have a "manly scented candle". Its kind of like a manly nail polish.

However, if you are determined to go through with this I would go with pine....or bacon.

Midsummer's Night from Yankee Candle is a "Manly Scent". I burn one in my office regularly.

Archipelago has a line of candles that are more masculine. They make excellent candles. I have the tobacco one...it's very nice.

My husband loves any of the food-y type ones.
Coffee, nut, cinnamon, vanilla, etc. Anything non-floral, basically.
But then, I don't like floral either...

If this is for your son I'd give him whatever you think seems right and he'll like it (or put on a very convincing show)!

LOL!! Anything associated with the deep woods types of scents will do fine. Or sage, sandalwood, cedar, spicy musk, etc. etc.

I'm very much a man and I've burned all the above since I was a teen

(ponders looking for a leather scented candle....... )

One warning, I got the leather one from Yankee Candle and yuck! Had it in my car long enough to find a trash can. What about citrus?

I like natural beeswax candles, I can't think of a scented one off hand.

Manly scented candle... you REALLY don't want to go there. As Freud said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Then again, there are those other times...

Rum, beer or as stated before, whiskey...other than that (none of which I've encountered) fit the criteria. Just my $0.02

Mmmm... the Bait Shop one looks good. If not that, maybe they have "Deer Camp"?

Someone probably does have a pine tar soap smell...

I believe it's "Grandpas Pine Tar soap" that smells the best... smells like the oakum used in log cabin repairs... a heavenly scent!

I always liked the dirt and oil smell of an old garage. Crude oil smells something like that. Do they make that in a candle?

Did you read the news about the study where they found that men were most "responsive" to the scent of pumpkin pie?
Good luck!
