Assistance near Boone County, AR

Good morning all,

I was torn between this forum or the barter board and figured more people may see it on this one.

Our DS is overseas and our DIL rented a house unseen (I know... I know) about three hours from us to be closer. Anyway, after driving 2200 miles in 2 days to get there, she found sewage all over the house and almost became overcome with gas fumes before calling emergency personnel. Needless to say, she packed up and drove to Harrison.

Now the dilemma... she is looking for a home near Harrison, AR, to rent. This wouldn't be that difficult except that she has two cats, a dog, a bird and two horses.

If anyone in the area of Boone County knows of any homes for rent with acreage for horses, can you please give me a holler. Thank you so much.

In Harrison may be difficult, however there are several radio stations that do trading post type shows and that may the best way listen to them and call in and put it out there. She may have better luck finding something on one of the outskirts - Omaha, Pyatt, Yellville, St Joe (a bit farther away). She might want to try to board the horses and see what she can find. I am the other direction now but I know most types of places like that are going to be found by word of mouth. Does she work nearby? if so she needs to ask around and let the word go out around. I don't know anyone that way who can help out right know, but people there are really good about helping out even strangers (I know because I was one for a while). Take care - Thea

I know this sounds funny. But Wildwanderer is right, places like you're looking for will be found by word of mouth & where better to go than a feed store. I think I'm a little too far away (S.E. OK) or I'd let you bring your horses to my place until you can find what you're looking for. Good luck!

Best advice I ever got for finding a place to live in a small town...go to the local post office and talk to the postmaster...they know EVERYTHING!

I live at ST Joe about 40 miles from Harrison the only house that is for rent around here is a small trailer (10x40) but it does not have a place for horses although the owner might have some pasture that he may rent. If interested PM me and I will put her in contact with the owner.
