Hey alla u corn growers.

Guy 40 miles away advertised on CL that he had Henry Moore seed corn for sale. $30 bu. Said he got 90bu a acre. I called him. said the stalks got 10ft tall, he planted in 36in rows and the seed was round 10in apart. Said he placed 400lbs 30 12 12 per acre. I asked him how he figured the bu per acre, he said he figured it by the wagon load as they picked it. Does that sound right to u guys. I cant imagine getting that kind of yield on OP to begin with. AND with the fertilizer going up into makeing the tall stalk, I cant see it makeing great ears. I cant imagine that kind of yield outa op corn in 18in rows with the seed 6in apart. Im going down to see it cribbed as they havnt started shelling it yet. He says theyre gonna knock off the ends, hand shell the fronts enough to run them through a hand sheller. I would think that would crack the front kernals till the sheller adjusts to the size but he says no. He said they had planted it 2yrs ago, and barely made their seed back. Said they planted it last year, and it did great.

Its getting almost time for me to be thinking about all the ifs and butts on planting corn again.
