What's wrong with this mower?

I’ve been looking for a good buy on a used mower. The MTD 18HP found in our local paper looks to be a good one.

What ya’ll think? What kind of a trans. is that?

I had one similar and it was the most aggravating thing to change the blades that I've ever owned.

There's a heavy spring attached to the rear of the deck that is nearly impossible to attach/detach to remove the deck.

I have a 18 HP MTD and yes that spring is hard in the back, but if you use a tool with a good hook on it. (Like A car drum brake spring taker offer). It is not that bad as I even have arthritis in both wrists.
But this fall I tok the deck off and will put it back on this spring after doing a new belt replacement.

read the second line carefully, you'll get it.

At least you wouldn't need to stop for a bathroom break. Fertilize while you mow!

I need a new seat on my mower - wonder where you can get one. Could mow and fertilize at the same time.

MTD are usually good mowers. Call and find out how old it is,and see what condition it is in. And why are they selling it?

Well, they got the "rear discharge" portion right, at least.

Yeah, that line kind of makes you wonder if the part further down about the B/S motor means something besides Briggs and Stratton.
