Usually around by the spark plug the model numbers will be stamped into the motor housing. If a lot of dirt gets in the numbers, it maybe hard to see.

Help with my 16 hp engine id

Hey thanks I cannot find the housing cover. It is over at a buddies shop I will look around the upper part of engine. Mine has a rope pull type starter non electric start. If I got a picture to you could you compare it to yours? i am ytring to get a new shroud so that the engine will run right tempature wise. It is so ---- cold outside here in the south.

My freind showed me a few nicks in the shaft of the cylinder pretty bad I belive they tore out the seal I guess I will have to get the cylinder fixed by repairing the nicks and replacing the seal as well as re- chromed any suggestions? I love this spliter it can split a peice of locust wood it impressed me as locust wood is tough. Look forward any ideas. I will look up the model number also to see if looks close to what mine has. Is there a way you could measure the cover area where the pull rope wraps around just to be sure? I would be grateful if you lived closer and this works send me your address I will send you a pound of shelled pecans..
