Insulating with bubble wrap~

I read on previous posts that bubble wrap makes good insulation for windows. It lets the light in, but keeps the cold out. So, I had some 'sticky-backed' bubble wrap & put it on a bedroom window. After 2 weeks, and it getting VERY cold outside, the stickiness is no longer holding Does anyone have any ideas what type of tape I can use that won't leave a gooey mess come spring? Thanks for any clues, and have a great day, Maggie

While I've not tried this myself, I have been told that you can just spray the window with a little water, and the bubble wrap will "cling" to the window where it is damp. As I said, I can't verify this would work but if it does, it would save a lot of clean-up when you go to take it down.

Maybe you can adapt what I've done. I bought a big roll of foil backed bubble wrap from Home Depto. Put duct tape along the top to strengthen it,attach to the trim with tiny nails, tacks whatever. Then I roll it up during the day and have a loop of fabrick that tyes it up. Also use velcro,in a loop. This works great in my bedroom as I have a doorwall, and the cold would give me earakes.

Hi,
You want to put the bubble wrap on by 1) spraying the window with plain water, then 2) applying the bubble wrap when its still wet. The bubbles go toward the window, so that the flat sheet the bubbles are on faces the room.

For me this will last the whole season, and will allow the bubble wrap to come off easily at the end of the heating season.
