Gas cookstove igniter

Have a Frigidare model FGF368gbf cookstove that one of the burner igniters quit. My internet searching has not found info on how to access the control to test and/or replace.

TIA

I had a similar problem with our gas central heating. The igniter may not be "bad", but simply short circuited. Find the igniter and see if it has a crust of ash or other burnt debris. Carefully brush the element clean with a toothbrush. Your igniter might be ceramic and be very fragile, so do NOT brush it with anything harder than a toothbrush! I broke ours, and it cost 50$to replace with another generic one, but that was still far less than the cost of a repair visit.

Good luck,
Michael

Anyone have a link to a site that tells how to get to the igniter control/switch to replace it?

Try www.repairclinic.com. We have used this site to order replacement parts.

We bought a 1936 wood/gas stove. For the time this was made this is pretty modern. It has a pilot light to light the burners. When we had it hooked up we had the pilot light blocked so we use one of those lighters pictured above. We are very pleased with that as we would have been wasting a lot of gas the old way. In your case it is probably an electric ingnighter. I think you should find someone from your gas co or store where it was bought to check it out.
