Like anything else, does your usage justify the extra cost? If you are a full time log cutter, it would probably be quicker/cheaper in the long run. If you do occasional pruning on your property, and put away a few cords each year, a good quality metal file should last you years, and can be replaced anywhere. In either case, buy a good one...a cheap diamond file may be no better than a good metal one.
I have never saved a dime by buying 'cheap' tools.
