Buzzsaw blade sharpening advice needed

Paid $65 to have my blade sharpened. How often should I dress the blade? If the tooth aims to the outside, should I file that direction? I think I should. but ive tried fileing it before, but never successful. Could be I waited too long.

I get mine done every couple years profesionally and inbetween I use my angle grinder. probably take years off its life by doing that but it works about twice before it needs done profesionally. a file works better but I don't have that much time on my hands. mine does have an angle that alternates and you need to keep the angle close just like on a chainsaw. if you use an angle grinder do not let it get the metal to hot or it ruins the temper--light and several passes works best.

ok, but do u swedge it, changeing the direction of the teeth, The set, If I remember right, working at a sawmill, the set indicated the angle on the tooth, and the swedge indicated the angle of the individual tooth

Swedge is width of tooth . Some saws set right straight left . I assume this is an old cutoff saw for crosscutting . Fellow gave me one just haven't gone to get it .

The saw i am running is a 52'' insert tooth designed for ripping i use standall carbide bits can't swedge them .

I don't mess with the current angles, one goes right and the next goes left, etc, etc. I just take the burrs off and give it an edge. I don't always get it purfect so every other year I get it done profesionally.

Because I use the saw myself, without an offbearer, after awhile the teeth wont be right or left. Theyll be in a straight line. The sharpening edges of the blade will be so flatwise I cant tell which way to sharpen them. And that is with me haveing it resharpened each year. Course, I only cut year old cut wood, which is pretty tough and dry.
