Fireplace insert question

We are down to the wire and have to make a choice.
Does anyone have any opinions on either of these inserts? We are hoping to heat our main floor of the house with it. The main floor is about 1700sqft and is L shaped with one of the fireplaces located in the heel of the L. The 1 story chimney to that one is in the garage.

The choices are:

Napoleon 1402
or
Lopi Republic 1750

This would be our first time ever heating primarily with wood. So we want something easy to use.

Thank you,

I don't know anything about either of these inserts you're considering, but we have a Buck insert. We chose the Buck brand because it's the brand a nearby fireplace store sells. I can only tell you that you won't regret getting an insert. Purchasing ours was one of the best decisions we've ever made. I love the heat it gives us, and I love not having to buy propane very often.

We bought the Lopi Revere back in '06, it's our main source of heat. Very easy to use, no catalytic converter, and because it has a cooktop I cook on it all winter. It is smaller than the Republic and heats our 1000sqft house with no problem. I like the Lopi because it's steel and not cast iron.

Good luck with your choice!
