Best model Aladdin Lamp?

Need one for off-grid cabin and am not finding any deals at yard sales or second-hand shops. If I'm going to have to buy one new, I'd like the best bang for my buck. Can you tell me some pros and cons of different types of Aladdin lamps? Any help appreciated.

All the Aladdin lamps for the past few decades use the Model 23 burner. Consequently "the guts" are the same for all relatively modern Aladdins. The only difference then becomes the "style." Some are made of brass, some aluminum, some glass, some have paper shades, some glass shades, etc. The thing is there is no difference in how they operate, they just look different.

My recommendation for a low cost Aladdin is the Genie II or the Genie III....the only difference between these two models is the shape of the glass reservoir.

I have the Genie II and like it very much. The parts are easy to find (although not cheap). I just had to get a new burner raiser and wick. The raiser was only $3.+ but the wick set me back a pretty penny. If you get it from Lehmans, they offer a supplemental kit which includes a replacement chimney, two or three mantles and (I think) an extra wick. It offers a fairly good discount compared to buying them separately.

Another lantern you might consider is the new Petromax (can't remember the name right now). It's fussier than the Aladdin but half the price. Just do a search to find it.

I like the ones which have the separate filler cap on the fount. It's much easier to fill them by taking off the filler cap than by having to remove the burner. It's also nice to have a shade on them since they can get pretty bright without the shade. The glass shades are real breakable but they look nice.

Get what you like, you can fix everything else.

I Have two model 11's. I can use either Kone Kap mantles or Lox on mantles by simply removing the Model 11 gallery and replacing it with a model 12 gallery and the approtiate chimney....
Ebay has a few deals every now and then.
About the cheapest for a Genie II lamp was here:http://congofp.com/miva/merchant.mvc...egory_Code=LMP

77 bucks...about 90 bucks by the time it arrrives at your door.
