Anybody want a free mule?

One of my hay customers called up to get some more hay and asked if I wanted a free mule. It seems that sometime last night, someone deposited a 3 yr old green broke mule and a pigmy goat barn buddy in her exercise pen. She can just feed her horses so she has to move these guys on. The wife and I talked it over and decided there is no way we can take her. I suppose she'll end up on Craig's list but I thought I'd let you folks know. If you're interested and close enough to NW Ohio, give me a PM.

I know some people here on the edge of town who have a couple of miniature horses, goats and a donkey. I will ask them if they can take them, but with things as they are economically I wouldn't bet on it. I'll try to get in touch with them this afternoon. If they are interested I will PM you. What sex is the goat?

Better not be giving away something that might be stolen. Notify the sheriff.

Course they could be placed in the lost and found section:

Found: One 3 year old brown mule, green broke, 14.5 hands, with scraggly tail and white and black spotted companion goat. Owner can reclaim by identifying these animals.

Few years back it was happening in these parts with hogs at that time everyone had a few If you left your lot gate unlocked you could gain from two to ten :smiley-laughing013:

Have heard it is now happening with horse's . Saw a ad while back for a saddle bridle and other gear for 250 last line of ad read must take horse too :smiley-laughing013: I'd rather have a mule an goat than a horse any day .

I've heard folks around here have to lock their trailers if they go to the auction. If it's left open, it may be occupied with a horse when you get back.
I don't mind taking free pigs and sheep - they're easier to get ready to eat than a horse.

That's the way it's been around here at auctions for a couple of years. I'd be happy if someone dumped a mule in my trailer, but they're still selling better than horses here so I don't think it will happen!

A few months back my DD bought a cheap mare that came with a young nursing mule.

Before she left the sale barn, 3 different people left their number with her.
They want to be called when she's ready to sell the mule.

Seems to be a demand for them around here.
Lots of the local Amish use them for field work.

I love mules, I really do. I had to give my last little guy away after he threw me and broke my rotator cup, right shoulder. The next day I rushed him and he kicked out two of my ribs
clean broken. He loved the wife and kids, just not me!
I gave him away for free to a woman that gave him to to a trainer, He is good boy just needs a job better than I had to offer.
Mules are not stupid or stubborn, they will protect themselves to the end.. You can run a horse off a cliff.... but between you and a mule,, the mule will be the one looking down at you!

Sounds like a mule with a character that would fit right in our place. ROFL (Anything with a mind of its own is always welcome here ... as long as it is respectful of David and I being at the top of any pecking order. ROFL)

I finally got in touch with the local lady, but she said she can't take in any more animals. Sorry I couldn't help.

I've PM'ed you a phone # of someone who will be in your area today transporting a horse. She would like to stop by to see the mule if possible. She has mules.

You may also want to mention this in the Equine section. I'd expect some interest/help there. Good luck!

Folks, you'll have to pardon me but I only have internet at work and only when I'm actually there. SueMC, I've put in a call to the lady with the mule. I'm waiting for a callback. Everyone else, please stand by.
