Wind Mill Pond Aerator

We are looking to install an American Eagle windmill pond aerator this spring on a 23' four legged tower. Anyone have any experience with them or any other windmill aerator? Our pond is only about half an acre and about 6' deep and we like the looks of the American Eagle as it looks pretty stout.

Any experience anyone has to share with something similar would be appreciated.

Why are you aerating?

The pong is a stagnant pond we are reclaiming and we dont want to use too many chemicals. Our ultimate goal is to stock it with some blue gills.

Farm ponds around here get serious algae bloom if they arents aerated.

Can you dry it out? That should help quite a bit as long as you keep manure water from going into the pond. A length of 1 1/2" polypipe would siphon the pond down in a week or so.

A friend of mine used a small windmill to aerate his ponds here in MN. I think it was hit or miss.

A wind powered aerator, was too rich for my blood, so I built an surplus electric compressor unit, using the airstone, I purchased from American Eagle. Good company to deal with.

Rural King also sells ther products.

I see AE aerators everywhere. Still American made.

We are looking at something like this Benda... http://www.pondaeration.com/

It has the look we are seeking and hopefully it will keep the pond clear and fish properly oxygenated.

Fishhead, we will probably drain the pond this winter. It has a valve to bring water to the barn but its frozen open and we can only shut it off at the spigot right now. I am just looking to get something to keep it clear once its filled again. We also have a second pond that is built but needs the hardpan laid so it holds water and we may be putting a second windmill there as well. Right now we have a ton of frogs but the fish have all died out due to the lack of oxygen in the water.

I just havent seen many people post about keeping their ponds healthy and am looking for advice.
