Looks like a lot more work than we go to! I also wouldn't finish it the same way after the water washed away the plaster...

wy_white_wolf,

Don't need to do that myself, but it looks like good use of local materials to make a planter box.

If you had the sand and rocks, a little portland cement and you have concrete. Would last forever. A lot of work but I like the look. I don't think I would do it but to each his own. On the farm we built poured in place water tanks for cattle, free form bottom and sides. Over time the cement eroded and the rocks showed through much like that....James

Interesting. We made our raised bed utilizing cinder blocks from the local (now closed) trailer park. Paid less than a dime for most, and even got three trailer loads for free.

Bear in mind that concrete leaches a lot of alkalinity into the neighboring soil. That's why it's tough to grow stuff right next to a house on a concrete slab.

It looks beautiful for a flower bed...but again like someone else posted leaching form materials may be an issue.
Seemed sort of small for a functional garden bed too.
hate to rain on any parades....
