What is your best sore throat remedy?
Cold weather is here and my body has been fighting a sore throat on and off.
Anyone have a good natural sore throat remedy?

Grapefruit seed extract. Dilute 3-5 drops in 6 oz. of water and gargle with it. You can do this 2-3 x's a day. But remember DILUTE it. Don't ever use it full strength. Also, use a neti pot, DO NOT USE THE GFS EXTRACT IN IT, use either the plain water or the little packs of stuff that comes with it. All throat infections come from the virus invading and then colonizing in the nasal passages. As they multiply they move down into the throat.
I had a sore throat last week, gargled and used the neti pot and poof... I was over it.
You can buy a neti pot with the solution at walmart.
Hope you feel better soon.

A mixture Jack Daniels, honey and lemon juice....sip it slowly.
This also works for a cough.

I use to get a lot of sore throats, especially "strep throat". I have not had strep throat for over 20 yrs now.
When I feel a sore throat coming on, I use "regular" Listerine mouth wash in a spray bottle and spray the back of my throat often with it. It has never failed me!

I gargle with salt water. DH likes a "cure" similar to CF's: tea with honey, lemon, and a shot of Yukon Jack!

I'm with CabinFever on this one. I'm not even a big drinker (of alchohol), but it does wonders for your throat, and it'll put me to sleep in no time!

What Cabin Fever said. For during the day I just like fresh made hot lemonade with honey.

Strong tea, with lemon, honey, and brandy.
Non-natural- You can crush up a couple Ibuprofen, dissolve in water, and gargle with it. I once had a horrible sore throat that was like swallowing busted glass, and that was the only thing that worked.

I have found that the elderberry syrup (sambuca) that is sold as an immune boost is actually great for sore throats. Whether it does anything for my immune system or not, I use it for that.

the cheapest and most effective in my experience, and I have tried a lot of them, is H2O2, gargle, and don't swallow, a few times a day.

Apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (1T or more), honey (1T) in a cup of hot water.
Although the whiskey and such sounds yummy....but we don't drink. But I remember a spoonful of sugar wet down with whiskey being a great cure for congestion when I was a tiny kid and couldn't get clear enough to breath well.

I always gargle using a little Jack Daniels. And if you happen to swallow a little, no big deal.

My daughter used to get horrible tonsilitis. She learned to dip cotton swabs in Listerine or peroxide and wipe the pus off her tonsils; then she'd make a 50/50 solution of Listerine/water and wash the area with an irrigation syringe.
The Air Force docs kindly removed her tonsils for her once she was at her permanent duty station. (Thank God the USAF is better than civilian docs about that sort of thing!)
