What kind of spiders hide in hay?

I am in California visiting a friend. She fed her goats hay and soon after she was bitten multiple times by something....she is assuming it was a spider. It happened again 2 days later. She has large welts that are very swollen and very sore.

Anyone know what these might be? Thanks

Are you sure it was a insect ? Could it have been some thistle, my body rejects thorns and burrs very badly, I always get welts from them. > Thanks Marc

She's probably allergic to the hay. I grew up on a cattle ranch and did a lot of square bale hauling. Everywhere hay sticks me I get welts.

As to the question.....What kind of spiders hide in hay......all of em.

Look up straw itch mites or hay mites.
