Any use/value in used Co2 tanks?

I can get six free, but don't know what I could use them for. Do they have resale value?

If they arn't stolen property or past their servicable expiration date stamped on the collar and the bottled gas service is in your area you may be able to turn them in for the bottle deposit.

Those look like fountain drink carbonation bottles used by older restaurants and portable concession trailers so they are probably outdated or stolen.

Yes they look pretty old. I would not even bother with them even if they are free.
And getting them free has to question as WHY are they free? Old and not worth a thing.

I have 2 for my small mig welderthat came from a concession stand. I use it to purge tanks on portable welding jobs. I also use it with a friend air power set from lowes. it hooks to a CO2 tank with a regulator and lets him use his air nailer and other tools on CO2.

I use them to make bells if they are unservicable.

For one thing, the valves. Even if the tanks can't be used, the valves are fine. For another, steel tanks can be used in home-made wood gasifiers. The making bells is another good idea. They also make fuel tanks that won't quit. They also can be used for regular compressed air at lower pressures.

For me, I'm looking to find one in date to make homemade sodie pop.
