Purchase Honda ATV thru Ebay, Via Craigs List ?

...............I've found a Honda ATV in Very good shape , atleast the pics show such ! The lady selling says.....I'm newely divoraced and selling my ex's Honda .....! So , I sent her my Bankers fax number and told her she'd have too fax him a copy of the title , and anyother paperwork necessary for proff of ownership , and pics of the unit for proof of condition !
...............It is an 2005 and only has 630 miles on it , the pics on C'sList show an almost new Atv . She has it priced at about 50% of it's retain value which concerns me somewhat ! So , we'll see IF she will fax the Info too my banker . I'd appreciate anyone offering additional suggestions on how i can verify the condition of the ATV . She still hasn't told me where she is living ! , thanks , fordy

If she advertised on craig's list, and said she wants to sell through e-bay because of the "buyer protection plan" it's a scam.

She will jump through your hoops right up to the point where she gets your money or banking numbers, then you will have been scammed. Most victims don't see how it could have happened, they thought they were being careful. They thought they were calling the shots, when they were playing right into the scammer's hands.
Run away!

Just hope she doesn't sell your e-mail address to spammers, that's where they get most of their money.

Sure sign of a scam. A deal "too good" to be true.

Cash on pickup, with title (if any) in hand, is the only way to do a CL deal. Too many scoundrels out there.

If you want to check on the condition of the machine, you get up and you go look at it.

But then, I rather suspect you're deliberately playing with a scammer.

I wouldn't buy it unless I was physically there to examine it, ride it and she had the documetnation to prove that she legally owned it and had the right to sell it.

I have bought a small travel trailer through Craigslist, and didn't cough up any money until I had checked it over thoroughly, inside and out. I called a friend who is a sheriff, and had him run the vin to see if it was stolen, and that was for a $600.00 purchase, which is probably less than what you are looking to spend.

I simply wouldn't buy a vehicle "sight unseen" off ebay or craigslist, ever.

And, this does sound like a scam.

A friend of mine in law enforcement told me they get calls on C list scams several times a week. They always tell people, only buy locally with something you can actually look at in person. Only deal in cash and never let someone buy your stuff who wants someone else to pick up your stuff and wants to pay with anything other than cash.
Good advise is hard to come by, but I live by this advise now.

If you buy things on CL, you are going to be onto these frauds... They are that common.

Face to face cash for me on anything like that.

I'll buy things on Ebay as it's easier not to get scammed on smaller goods, but never something like an ATV..

.............Sis , I was sorely tempted because the price was SO low , and the picture of the machine was in such good shape ! And , I'm a sucker for Honda Red ! I kinda knew all along it was a scam but I would have never sent any funds unless It had been documented and such . I appreciate all of you'lls responses . , fordy
