I have found small amounts through unclaimed.org and received the money, and found them for others as well. Unfortunately I did find one that 25yrs after the person's death I didn't have the documentation the state wanted. Good luck!

Also most Treasury sites for each State have an unclaimed funds section.

I have also received money from two states I lived it formerly.

State of Hawii has $1.55 that belongs to me. Hubby said I can't claim it in person.
Brother got around $700 from New York. Another brother has $ comming from Florida.

Does unclaimed.org take a finders fee? I ask because you can query the states individually and get whatever money is owed to you without paying a fee. Here in California it is the state Comptroller's office, at http://www.sco.ca.gov/upd.html.

The OP is in Washington State, and that one is http://ucp.dor.wa.gov/

I don't believe they do. When I clicked on my home state of NC it automatically carried me to the NC treasury website. I don't believe unclaimed.org actually finds the money for you.

Look for your state division of taxation. They might have a link to a commercial service (.com or .org) they use to post unclaimed money.

No such luck for myself, but I've found money for friends and relatives who did not know they had it coming.

Be sure to put in all names you have used. I put in my first married name and I'm getting $400.00 back from my deceased 1st husband's life insurance.

I just checked all the family names. My sisters and I may have something coming from our Grandpa, and my BIL may have something coming from his late mother. Also looks like his Dad (still living) may have something coming.
